University of Connecticut Computer Technology Competencies

Incoming students at UConn are expected to demonstrate competency in Computer Technology. This is achieved by passing the Competency Test in the General Education - Computer Technology Competency section found on their HuskyCT site. Students may use the tutorials on this site to strengthen their skills and knowledge before logging on to HuskyCT.

Students are invited to obtain help from the Learning Resource Center (LRC) to pass these competency quizzes and the test. This can be done through one-on-one help by visiting the LRC, or by signing up for a Group Workshop.

 

Entry Expectations

Students are expected to have basic level of competency in the following areas:
  1. Computer Operation Basics
  2. Electronic Communications
  3. Internet - Web Basics
  4. Word Processing
  5. Presentation Software
  6. Spreadsheets
  7. Databases
  8. Graphics and Multimedia
